Welcome to Geek-apedia!

Remember when you shared a cool article by getting out the scissors, envelopes and stamps?  Oh you don't?  Well ask that nice Cougar at the hookah lounge and she'll fill you in.  I love sharing articles, and as those that have weathered my Geek Mails know, I love sharing articles that mix concepts like passion and air to ground missiles.  I also love WikiDavid Brin called Wiki over a decade ago in his eerily prophetic and yet strikingly factual novel Earth.  I am hopeful, sometimes to a Pollyanna degree I will admit, that Entropy Squared can become a Geek-apedia of sorts.  Geek is such a negative word when defined literally.  Both the Compact Oxford Dictionary and the Merriam-Webster online versions include definitions of Geek which include the jarring word fool, but it is gratifying to also see that Merriam-Webster also includes the more positive descriptives "enthusiast or expert” and in that enthusiastic vein I invite you to be a part of this Geek-apedia experience.

Share with me news you choose, articles either brilliant or bawdy, or even better, both!

Exchange knowledge as well as philosophies for exchanging knowledge in this digital plane.

"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord."  ~President Barack H. Obama

So let us gather my fellow Geeks and my Geeks in training and choose "hope over fear" and "unity of purpose over conflict and discord."  It is truly a Brave New World, and I mean this is the Shakespearean sense, not the Huxley sense.

"O wonder!

How many goodly creatures are there here!

How beauteous mankind is!

O brave new world!

That has such people in't!"

The Tempest, Act V, Scene I

By the way, did you know that the acclaimed Sci-Fi film production of The Forbidden Planet is also based on The Tempest?  Thanks to Mr. Stephen Bickley at San Diego High for that one!  He also introduced me to Kurt Vonnegut but I am really digressing now...but wait that's what I invite all of us to do here at Entropy Squared's Geek-apedia!  Digress, share, laugh (let's not cry too much as there is a damn site more tears out there than we really need right now...sorrow can indeed carve out room for happiness it's true, but let's carve out joy...and apologies for channeling Captain Mal Reynolds).

O my brave friends, so glad am I that this world as such people in't!

Share your knowledge, your passions and be returned threefold with more knowledge and passions.

That's my pledge to you...and it even comes with optional julienne attachment.

Kiss Noize.

With warmth,

~E.B. Perkins

Consider this an abbreviated Geek Mail...I'm sure you all know now (whether you wanted to or not!) that I am a dyed in the wool Comic Book devotee and that I am also a liberal (yeah, like you couldn't figure that one out by yourself) so I was of course thrilled to see President Obama elected.

Where is she going you wonder?

Did you know I collected Spider Man comics...still have all of them...the boyZ enjoy them now....along with the rest of my comic book collection which I handed down to them).

Turns out Obama collected Spider Man comics too.

Again what relevance does this have to Geekdom?

Must have this comic book...must have...must have...covet, want, desire...

And to think I thought it was cool when I read about real life levitation earlier today!

But a Marvel Team Up With Obama and Your Friendly Neighborhood Web Slinger?!  I feel faint...  =P

Comic good...yes!

With Geek Warmth,

~Erika and the BoyZ (Zack and Zayden also greatly want this Spidey comic book - we'll have to buy each Perkins Geek their own copy!)  =)
